A fixture at New York's Village Vanguard for over 42 years, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra is one of the most forward-looking big bands in modern jazz. Carrying on the tradition of its founding members, Thad Jones and Mel Lewis, the orchestra’s unique style is powerful, fast, and exhilarating with virtuoso players and a big band sound that knocks you out of your seat. The 2009 Grammy-winning, 20-piece orchestra continues to influence a new generation of composers, arrangers, and performers with one of the most voluminous and inspired jazz libraries worldwide.
