Description

Winning bidder will enjoy a fabulous 1 1/2 hour tour of Castello di Amorosa and tasting for four!

"Visit our authentic, 12th century Tuscan castle-winery where you may tour and taste world-class Napa Valley wines from a fourth generation winemaking family which began its tradition more than 120 years ago.

The Winery

After decades of researching and studying medieval castles throughout Italy and Europe, Dario Sattui began his marathon building project in 1993, spanning 15 years.

The Castello includes 121,000 square feet, 107 rooms (no two alike), 8,000 tones of hand-squared stones, 8 levels (4 below ground), 900 feet of caves, a completely frescoed great hall with a 500 year old fireplace, a drawbridge, a dungeon and torture chamber, stables, a medieval church, a lake, and the single most impressive wine barrel room in the U.S., constructed with ancient brick Roman cross-vaulted ceilings.

Yet, the Castle is merely a backdrop to showcase some of Napa Valley's best wines. The castle produces a tiny 15,000 cases which are sold only at the winery, directly to the consumer.

The Vineyards and Wines

Castello di Amorosa has 30 acres of vineyards surrounding its ominous walls, gates, and guard towers, planted with Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, which produce low yields and intensely favored wines. The Castle produces hand-crafted Italian style wines including Pinot Grigio, Pinot Bianco, and Super Tuscan Blends, and are made to pair beautifully with food. The wines have received international acclaim.

Tours & Tastings

Tours and tastings are conducted daily. Reservations are recommended. All tours are limited to small groups and include a barrel tasting."
