Rare Algal Pressing - Ptilota filicina

Item Number: 374
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
This is a beautifully framed 8x10" pressing of the exquisite uncommon red alga, Ptilota filicina (Rhodophyta) found growing on rocks in the low intertidal area along the Sonoma Coast.
This specimen was collected soon after being cast up on the beach, carefully mounted on herbarium paper while underwater, and pressed and dried to preserve its graceful structure. (The picture does not do it justice!)
