I've decided that my goal is to make myself as happy as possible and I realize that my happiness doesn't depend on anyone or anything but me. What makes me experience joy is creating art on a regular basis, and I've always known this is what I was born to do. This past year, I have carved out the time for myself to do this and now I've come to a place where I want to spread it around.

My daughters perspective influences me daily, so I thought it would be beneficial to only paint/draw with my left hand and leave the trained and controlling hand in the dust for a while. I've always been an artist who worked a lot with black ink so I've decided to leave it out, as well as most dark and muted colors. This restriction was necessary to face the overwhelming feelings that I've always had about colors. The process has been teaching me a lot about trusting my heart. Sometimes a little blue angel enters into the picture and often plant forms and underwater creatures. I really just try to sit and feel who is talking to me - blood cells, sun, bugs, flowers, my daughter's singing. When I let the little spirits enter, whether it makes sense or not, is when I feel most like my true self.
