Description

Two bottle pair from Napa Valley.

The 1994 vintage was long and consistent, the wine dark and intense. At 25 months' aging in French barrels, this wine emerged with the ripeness and structure the vineyard is known for. The Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon is adventurous and clean in its raspberry, blackberry and cherry characteristics and is lusciously balanced with an elegant spiciness.

The 1997 harvest produced red wines of dark garnet color and high quality, with a redolence-suggesting classic Napa Cabernet. Near-perfect conditions allowed all blocks of this late-ripening varietal to mature fully. Ripe fruit impressions of Classic Napa Cabernet... some fresh, youthful, lively qualities balances by barrel-aged suppleness - nearly evolved. "In general, there is an overall presence of sweetness and harmony.  Rich, weighty, full. For those who enjoy "aged" Cabernet, additional time should yield elegance and stature (and less ripe fruit) by the year 2006 - 2010."
