Description

Round House Friend, Ben Giliberti, wine expert and former Washington Post wine critic, has generously donated two fine French reds from his cellar.  In Ben's words:

This lot presents two historic vintages of Château Cantemerle, which was ranked as a Grand Cru Classe/ in the prestigious 1855 classification of the Medoc. Made from a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot aged for 18 months in new oak barrels before bottling, the wine is renowned for its fragrance and smooth, supple fruit. The 1978 is a classically austere "British-style" claret, from the so-called "Miracle Vintage."  The much fruitier 1985 is from one of the most highly regarded vintages of the 1980s. Both wines are fully mature and ready to be enjoyed with delicate meats or poultry.
