Description
Bid on this exclusive print of Aki Sogabe's beautiful kiri-e natural outdoor scene "Moon Has Risen." This would look great in any room, especially if paired with another Aki Sogabe print featured in our auction.
Ms. Aki Sogabe moved to Seattle from Japan in 1978, and has been sharing her papercuttings since that time. Japanese kiri-e (paper cutting) is an ancient form of art using a blade and papers rather than a brush and paints. Kiri-e originated among the aristocratic class during the Heian period as an offshoot of the cutting of stencils for court crests and robes.
