1999 Joseph Drouhin Volnay-Clos Des Chenes

This Domaine was founded by Joseph Drouhin in 1880 and is now run by his great grandchildren.  The Domaine consists of 73 hectares spread throughout the Grande Bourgogne in the Cote de Nuits, Cote de Beaune, Cote Chalonnaise, Maconnais, Beaujolais and Chablis.  All of the Domaine's vineyards are cultivated bio-dynamically.  Veonique Drouhin's first vinification alone was in 1988.  Her passion is to make wines that are elegant, refined and complex.  The philosophy of the Maison Joseph Drouhin can be summarized in five points:  their dedication to the diversity of Burgundy, their family heritage, their constant listening to nature, their ideal of perfection and elegance, and finally, their desire to share these great wines with the world.

This is a wonderful example of outstanding Burgundy.  This bottle has been perfectly cellared for 10 years.  While drinking well now, it will continue to mature for 5-15 years.  Decant a couple of hours prior to serving.
