2011-2012 Season | September 2011 – June 2012
His Girl Friday
September 9 - October 9, 2011
This side-splitting new adaption crackles with rapid-fire dialogue from both the hit Broadway play and 1940 screwball comedy. Hard-boiled editor Walter Burns will stop at nothing to prevent his star journalist - who also happens to be his ex-wife - from leaving the paper to get re-married.
Clybourne Park
October 14 - November 13, 2011
Hailed as a "buzz sharp new comedy" by The Washington Post, Norris' play cleverly spins the Chicago setting of A Raisin in the Sun into an ingenious new tale about race and real estate in America. This two-act stunner just won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and led the nation's "Top Ten of 2010" lists from Entertainment Weekly to The New York Times.
The Merchant of Venice
February 3 - March 11, 2012
At the mercy of the moneylender Shylock, Antonio must find a way out of losing collateral he simply can't afford to part with - a pound of his own flesh. A bold new setting brings to bear the timelessness of Shakespeare's controversial tragicomedy.
Sparrow Grass
February 16 - May 13, 2012
In artistic Director Curt Columbus' bold new play inspired by Racine's Phedre, the classic tragedy is brought into focus within our current time. A woman's dark and misdirected passion threatens to destroy a family from within.
Love Alone
February 28 - May 27, 2012
After a routine medical procedure goes tragically wrong, the lives of both patient's family and the doctor charged with her care are transformed. A lovingly drawn portrait of how we grieve and how we heal.
The Mourner's Bench
March 7 - May 24, 2012
A quietly intriguing interwoven tale of a moment of terrible loss that reaches beyond time. Testing the limits of fate and redemption, these very human characters struggle to overcome their shared dark history.
