Description

Own an Arthur Moore original! This incredible painting showcases the talent one of Rhode Island's most famous artists. The layering of color and texture combined with his use of differentiating patterns creates a unique piece of art that makes the eye want to create it's own pattern across the canvas. The result is a stimulation of the senses between the texture of the piece, the colors used, and the shapes. Simply fantastic!

About the Arthur Moore:

"I’m interested in the origin of parietal art as a reflection of the human subconscious. I’m also interested in the beginnings of art, what prompted early man to begin making art. I’m fascinated with the art of young children produce and with the instinctive properties a child has in making marks without instruction.

Patterns in art and nature intrigue me. Artistic recognition is closely related to our propensity for recognizing pattern and ascribing order in our environment. Our aesthetic preferences are a combination of instinct and experiences. We put symbolism and meaning on art objects but symbolism is artificial. The responsiveness of patterning is like an emotional echo.

Patterns are a sign of safety. When a hiding lion breaks the pattern of blades of grass, the chaos signals danger. This is why chaos makes us uncomfortable and watchful. With this body of work, I am challenging our pattern response skills. It is an ongoing experiment with the space between chaos and order, using overlapped fragmented patterns.

I am not dealing with meaning, but pure form. I experiment with the pleasurable feelings that pattern evoke, with pattern as an adaptive response and with the methaphorical aspects of our adaptive response system."
