"Villa Dorada" is a luxurious villa located in one of the most
beautiful and secluded beach areas of the Dominican Republic: Playa Bonita, on the northern Samana peninsula.  It is part of the Costa las Ballenas resort, www.costa-las-ballenas.com/pagina, which was the setting for NBC's "Love in the Wild" (summer 2012).  The resort includes 12 spectacular villas, a boutique bungalow hotel, and fully equipped apartments.

All of the amenities of a resort are at your door: 2 swimming pools
surrounded by tropical gardens, top notch restaurant and bar, spa, scuba diving facilities, all located on a spectacular coconut palm lined beach - and yet you are in your own private villa.

Villa Dorada has two master bedrooms with private baths, a large loft that sleeps an additional four people (one queen, two twins), a fully equipped kitchen, indoor and outdoor sumptuous living spaces, a lush tropical garden, and hammocks for spending an afternoon in peace.  Rentals come with our housekeeper, Nina, for 6 hours a day.  She will make breakfast, change sheets, clean the house and, if asked, can shop for food, prepare meals or babysit at a small additional cost.

The Costa las Ballenas beach area includes multiple beaches within walking distance, some with surfing waves, others with smooth crystal clear water, and still others with coral for snorkeling.  If you feel like venturing further afield, there are multiple opportunities for sailing, scuba diving, horseback riding, world-famous kite surfing, whale watching, deep sea fishing and hiking to beautiful waterfalls.  Restaurant opportunities abound, including French, Italian, and Dominican, among others. We prefer to cook in the kitchen and the management can arrange to have basics in the refrigerator for you upon arrival.   If you want nightlife, you can arrange for a taxi to take you 10 minutes away to the hopping town of Las Terrenas, filled with shops, grocery stores, dancing clubs, restaurants and beachside bars.

There are direct flights from Montreal to the El Catey airport on Air Canada charters, and a 20 minute taxi to our Villa.  Or if you prefer to visit historic Santo Domingo first, there are multiple daily flights from Montreal, Boston, and NYC.  From Santo Domingo, it is just an hour flight to the El Portillo airport, and then a 10 minute taxi to our villa.  Alternatively, you can rent a car in Santo Domingo and take a beautiful 2 hour drive north on easy highways.  All of this can be arranged with resort reception, with pick up at the airport and direct delivery to the villa door.
