Your participation in our auction will help girls to leave their “ordinary” at the door and discover their Extraordinary at Girls Inc.! Everyday girls aged 5 to 18, walk through the doors of one of our 3 centers and into the Girls Inc. experience. Listen closely and you will hear the sound of a 6 year old reading her first book, or the cheers of our young runners as they cross the finish line of our 5K road race, witness the joy of the young girl who models the dress that she made herself in our fashion design class, get in line at the dinner club and taste the nutritious meals the girls created in our “Taste of the Town” cooking classes, look closer and you will see girls helping girls, giving back to each other. 

What you cannot see is that the girls in the dinner line are hungry, like the young girl who told us she wished they had enough money for her mother to eat too. You cannot hear the father of our 6 year old reader tearfully tell us he learned to read with her and last week read her a bedtime story for the first time in her life, you did not see that as our runners train day after day to reach their goal they ran in worn out sneakers and you could not know that the our dress designer will wear this dress over and over as her family cannot even afford to buy her new clothes. Finally, you cannot know that the girls who are giving back sacrificed their own birthday parties asking their friends to buy gifts for the girls who have less than they do.  Each of our girls is extraordinary, overcoming their shyness, poverty, loneliness, fear of embarrassment and lack of resources. 

The Online Auction is now open and runs until 8pm on April 30, 2013. The Online Auction will culminate with an exciting Live Gala and Silent Auction Event at The Castleton on Friday, May 3, 2013. Many items will be sold to the highest bidder, online, by April 30th - and other items will carry over to the May 3rd live event.
