Robert M. Rucker (March 28, 1932 - March 7, 2001) opened his own studio in the Vieux Carre when he was 16 years old. He spent several years at the John McCrady Art School, worked as a medical artist at Tulane Medical School, and was an instructor of art and ceramics for the City of New Orleans Recreation Department. He had exhibitions at Delgado Museum of Art, New Orleans; Louisiana State University Library, Baton Rouge; Pampered Pallette, Gaslight Square, St. Louis; La Garage Gallery, Chicago; Arts International, Cleveland; and Arts International, San Francisco.
