The Brown Center for Autism
Artfully Aware: Auction for Autism 2013
"Artfully Aware" brought to you by Noble Building Group will be accessible to everyone this year!
Our annual art auction is live and online this year! The Brown Center for Autism is auctioning off a number of fun and unique items to raise money for our organization. In the past, the items have only been available at the event. This year, anyone can bid on (most of) the items. A couple of special items will be available only during the live auction at the event.
We have quite a variety, with works of art created by BCA students, art donated by local artists, and other popular auction items such as restaurant gift cards, golf packages, Nashville Symphony tickets, jewelry, and more!

"Celebration of the Spectrum Performers"
Logan Blade
Logan Blade is a 21 year old young man from Culleoka, Tennessee. Diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2, Logan still has little to no functional language skills…until you place a microphone in his hand. With his baritone voice, he has an impressive and impeccable gift. Logan has perfect pitch, and can also hear a song and play it immediately afterwards. Logan has sang center court at an Atlanta Hawks game, The Nashville Autism Speaks Walk, and the NATO convention in Norfolk Va. He has also performed at the world famous Blue Bird Cafe in Nashville. This past May, he was invited to NYC to sing on the USS Intrepid. Logan just recorded his first CD this past November called “Fitting In”. The album contains songs by one of his favorite artists, Josh Turner, who Logan had the privilege of singing with on The Grand Ole Opry this May. We hope you will be blessed by what God has done in Logan's life.
Katie Chance
It may be hard to believe at first, but Katie Chance didn’t even speak until she was four years old. “I think most of it is stress because I get very stressed if something doesn’t go right,” Katie says. “I really had to learn that if something goes wrong I have to deal with it and move on.” As a toddler, doctors diagnosed her with Asperger’s syndrome, a mild form of autism. Now, at only 15 years old, Chance has shared the stage with artists like Bucky Covington, Sawyer Brown and Bo Bice to help raise awareness about the disorder. As Chance makes a musical name for herself she’s working with her diagnosis and not against it. “Being different is unique and that could get you really far, like look at me now,” she says.
Ben Liske
Ben Liske was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 23 months. Today, Ben is accelerated two full grades, and is a 13 year-old sophomore at the University School of Nashville. Ben is passionate about music, art, and advanced mathematics—just to name a few interests — and is a member of Mensa Honors Society, Davidson Young Scholars, Duke TIP Program, and Vanderbilt Summer Academy. Ben also has a passion for giving back to the Autism community — he was the 2006 Autism Society of America “Voice of Autism” poster child, starred in the 2008 Dan Marino Autism Self-Advocacy Network PSA, and the 2013 PBS documentary, “Autism in America”. Ben was also Tennessee VSA Young Soloist winner, and has performed for countless local, state and national charities in support of Autism. Ben views himself as a “twice-exceptional, neuro-diverse” individual and loves being a part of the Nashville Community.
