Vermont Coverts: Woodlands for Wildlife online auction fundraiser now open for bidding!

The auction opened on May 12, 2014 and will run through May 27, 2014 at 10:00pm.  We are auctioning a number of fun and unique items to raise money for our organization and every dollar raised will go toward meeting our mission.

Vermont Coverts was initiated almost 30 years ago out of the Extension office and established as a non-profit designed to enlist Vermont landowners in a long-term commitment to maintain and enhance diverse wildlife habitat and healthy ecosystems through peer to peer connections.

The program works to educate landowners about sound forest management and wildlife stewardship. The individuals trained, called Cooperators, act as peer educators sharing what they have learned with their neighbors and in their communities. The goal is to cause changes on a larger scale.  Our 3-day Cooperator Training connects participants with strategies and resources to manage their forests while enhancing wildlife habitat.

Coverts is an English word dating to the 14th century, pronounced "cuv-erts" not "coe-verts." It refers to dense thickets that provide shelter for wildlife.
