Description

Hooked tapestries are created using traditional rug hooking methods employing hand-dyed and as-found 100% wool fabric cut into strips hooked into either linen or cotton backing. The works are then stretched onto wooden frames. Traditional rug hooking is an early American craft that originated in New England and eastern Canada. Jennifer Davey uses this craft to transcend traditional rug making and creates works of art.

The piece offered here was specifically made for this auction benefiting Vermont Coverts. Jennifer Davey is a Coverts Cooperator who enthusiastically supports the mission of Coverts; she and her husband manage a 50 acre woodlot in the Champlain Valley of Vermont.
