About Jane Makhubele:

Billy Makhubele and Jane Makhubele are a husband and wife team who design and make colourful art works based on the historic events which have occurred in South Africa. Billy designs the piece and Jane (as well and his other wife, Jamina) and his 7 daughters make artworks out of beads, pins, mirrors and other objects on cloth. The Makhubeles still live in the rural area in the Limpopo province and are represented by Natalie Knight who has been their agent for over 20 years. Jane, who is illiterate, copies the words from newspaper captions in order to create her innovative beadwork. The artworks produced by the Makhubele family are represented in many museums and public collections in South Africa.
