Owners and brothers Jimmy and Chris Poole together with long time friend David Crowley have never had so much fun. And why shouldn’t they? Their office is an expansive warehouse in popular downtown Charleston that features one of the most entertaining venues around. The Alley Charleston, which opened late 2012, supplies non-stop options for anyone looking to have a good time.

First there are the games—bowling, skee ball, ping-pong, dozens of old school vintage arcade games, basketball hoops and more. Day or night, there is entertainment galore! Bowling, which is a highlight for The Alley, is not available anywhere else to the public in downtown Charleston (and hasn’t been since the 60s). There are 8 lanes and features its own nearby bar area for service. The venue is also ideal to come watch your favorite sport with two 160” projection screens and multiple TVs throughout the space. If there is a major event or a popular game airing, The Alley will be showing it.

Something most bowling establishments lack is good food and that is not the case at The Alley Charleston.  Siracha boiled peanuts, tuna spring rolls,  chili nachos—this is not typical snack food. There is a hearty selection of sandwiches and salads like the BLT salad and breakfast burger. Open for lunch and dinner, the food at The Alley is one of its many attractions.

Guests will not be disappointed when they visit the bar which has local craft beers on tap along with popular options for anyone’s liking. There are wines and the bartending staff can whip up a drink of any kind from a fully stocked bar.

Another exciting highlight of the space is the event rental offerings. Upstairs is a private 2,000 sq feet mezzanine event space. The “bowling bar” and connected private room replicates an old school hang out lounge with vintage paneling, memorabilia and more (a place Carl Spackler would feel right at home in). The upstairs lounge and tucked away space are both available for events and can accommodate 100+ for receptions or 40 for a seated, more intimate setting.

The Alley Charleston is really one-of-a-kind not only for Charleston but the country. It’s not just a bowling alley; it’s a one-stop entertainment hub that has excellent food and beverage options. The space designed by Dan Sweeney of Stumphouse is bright, open and expansive and has whimsical design elements that add to the flavor and entertainment already offered.
