Since 1969, Freeporters and area residents have volunteered their time as Trustees and Officers, Committee Leaders and members, and as volunteers and as non-profit, celebrated its’ 40th year of incorporation in 2009.
Their work includes making the historical collection available to the public for research and through exhibits, and stewarding and maintaining public access to two National Register properties-Pettengill Farm and Harrington House.
Pettengill Farm is a 140 acre site, including four walking trails, gardens, fields and vista down to the saltwater Harraseeket estuary is open dawn to dusk year-round. The early 1800’s saltbox farmhouse is open by appointment and for our Annual Pettengill Farm Day.
