Attalea maripa-The Maripa Palm- This palm is for a large estate garden or public space. One of the imposing American Oil Palm group that is now seen more and more in coastal estate gardens, this palm is a focal point for a grand space. Growing more upright than lateral, the fronds of the Maripa palm can grow to 30 feet or more in length. Enjoying a wet, sunny location in the garden and protection from dry winds, this species will tower over a landscape and is best given plenty of room. Frequently likened to a fountain of foliage erupting from the ground, the mature palm can grow to 40 feet or more. When mature, the golf ball-sized seeds are a commercial source of palm oil, and the seed heads can grow to 10 feet or more, becoming a focal point by themselves. Our plant is ready to install in a garden, where it will enjoy all the attention it can get.
