Description
This is an original from the American Girl Doll Collection!
Addy Walker was the fifth historical character introduced to the American Girl doll collection. Representing the Civil War Era, this doll was released in the Fall of l993 as part of the Pleasant Company’s 35th Anniversary Special Edition BeForever collection. This particular Addy doll, with the signature Pleasant Company name imprinted on the back of her neck, is one of the original dolls released prior to the company being sold to Barbie-makers, Mattel in 1998.
American Girl dolls were the inspiration of the company’s founder, Pleasant Rowland of Middleton, Wisconsin. A former teacher, she created the 18-inch dolls and gave them backstories of young girls living during important times in American history. Each doll came with her own historically appropriate book and clothes. Rowland's idea was that "girls could play out the stories."
While Pleasant Rowland’s intention was that the dolls were to be played with, they are today considered collector’s treasures and this one was very gently loved; it's in like-new condition!
