Description

Kuulei Keakealani is a master story-teller about the history, legends and traditions of Waimea (and really, all of Hawaii island).  She is also a WMS alumni who frequently shares her knowledge and love of this place and its heritage with our students to help them be even more proud of who they are and where they come from!  We are honored to have her come meet with a group of up to 8 guests in our open-air Malaai School garden for a priceless conversation about this very special place - from the puu to the mauna, from long-gone forests of Ohia and sandalwood to the still alive and thriving paniolo heritage that she is so much a part of.

Guests will gather in the garden for what promises to be a memorable "chicken skin" two hours of sharing ancestral knowledge and the beauty, protocols and practices of this special place.

We promise you'll "see" Waimea through new eyes after spending time with Kuulei!

Pandemic safety protocols on the school campus include all guests sharing proof of being vaccinated or a negative Covid test within the past 72 hours, plus wearing a mask - unless or until these are no longer required by the HIDOE.

Bidding begins at $280 for a “bubble” of up to 8 guests though group may grow up to 15 if County and HIDOE Covid guidelines permit.  Bid donation would be increased on a pro-rata basis.

Special Instructions

The fortunate winning bidder of this special gathering will receive an email to confirm pick up of a gift certificate from Waimea Middle School, or it can be mailed to you here anywhere in Hawaii or the US.
