Prayer for the Butterflies, Sculpture by Liz Sibley Fletcher

Item Number: 404
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
"Prayer for the Butterflies" is a garden sculpture inspired by figures the artist viewed in the Archaeolgical Museum at Otavalo in the Andes of Ecuador. The praying figure is human but indistinct, with hands clasped and looking skyward. A cluster of Monarch Butterflies shelters against the figure. Perhaps the artist intended to portray the best hopes of our planet to save this endangered species.
The size is 16" tall x 9" wide x 7" deep. The sculpture is made of high-fire clay with the clay surface natural brown. The ceramic butterflies are painted like the Monarch Butterfly.
Liz Sibley Fletcher is a well known sculptor who resides in our watershed.
