I cut, coil, and curl narrow strips of paper and use them to meticulously construct colorful illustrations and works of art that literally come off of the page. I use the traditional art of quilling to create works that are contemporary, bright, and clean. I view quilling as occupying a space between collage and relief sculpture. I explore both the fluidity and rigidity of the medium in my work. I am fascinated by how light, shadows, and color reflections change its appearance.
