The Lab for Innovation
At the HPEF Gala on May 18th, Dr Christine Johnson introduced The Lab for Innovation.
The district has already secured a $20k grant to fund half of this project and we need $20k more to fund the entire project.
-The Lab will provide a hands-on learning opportunity for our student to build 21st century skills in leadership, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurialism.
-It will be located at Hoboken High School and will be available to students in all grades.
-Hands-on equipment includes a wide range of engineering and manufacturing equipment and computerized tools, hardware supplies, motors, sensors, microcontrollers and related electronics, 3D printers and scanners, laser cutting machines, traditional power tools, electrical equipment, and other design equipment.
-Students in the elementary and middle school will access the Lab through the aftercare program as well as through field trips and voluntary participation.
-Contributions will go toward the purchase of the technology, tools and equipment as well as flooring, furniture and paint to build out this special place
This is just the beginning of more great things to come for Hoboken Public Schools and will give us insight into Dr. Johnson’s vision for the next stage of learning within the district!
