Auction Notes
1) The auction is for L3Harris Wescam employees only (includes coop, contractors, part time, etc) and other personnel who have access to Wescam including cafeteria/custodial/security. Do not send the link externally to others as the merchandise needs to be picked up by personnel with access to an L3Harris office (Waterdown, Don Mills, Ottawa, etc).
2) Payments will go directly to the card you register with to United Way (no payroll deduction option.
3) Do not bid unless you are willing to purchase (be cautious if simultaneously bidding for similar items). There is no way to retract bids on this external site which will charge your credit card if you win.
4) Proxy bid (auto-bid) is activated so that people don't all bid last minute (see note [1])
5) All equipment is sold as is and is out of warrantee. Please test out the purchased equipment and advise of any issues within 2-3 weeks
6) Computers will come with the version of Windows that it was originally set up for. Although some meet the standards, it is up to the winner to upgrade which may involve a BIOS upgrade. If the winner isn’t comfortable doing this, they should account for some cost from a service shop like Best Buy. Bidders be aware, they may need to purchase a legitimate Microsoft key or install Linux (for free) in some cases.
7) Please note that some equipment is labelled ‘Damaged’ and has known issues. This is an opportunity for some who bid lower and don’t mind some repair (or need to use external keyboard), etc.
8) The Buy-it-now option will be available and we hope to have volunteers to distribute items around Aug 25th for pickup.
[1] Auto-bid or proxy bid Notes - don't be surprised by an immediate outbid!
For people who want to enter a maximum bid, it will not drive the price up but will only match the person's bid. Example, if you see a computer for $80 and bid $130, the item does not immediately go up to $130. It will be $80 until someone bids $81 (or something) but they will be told immediately that they have been outbid and the bid goes up to $80. However, if someone bids $131, they will be winning over your $130 bid. Be careful as the software does allow you to outbid yourself (eg. If you bid $160 after your $130 bid, the winning bid automatically goes up to $130 without anyone bidding against you! This feature is encouraged as not everyone will be around or available at the auction close to do last-minute bids.
