Carol Hansen is a retired interior designer who has been drawing, painting, and creating art most of her life. She has exhibited her work at the AAM, Providence Art Club, Pawtucket Artists Collaborative, Bristol Museum and RI Watercolor Society. She mostly works in oil, mixed media collage, and the Provincetown white-line woodcut print technique.
"Breton Peasant Women" was inspired by a Paul Gauguin oil painting of the same name. It was executed using the Provincetown white-line woodcut print. This painting method was originated more that 100 years ago by several Provincetown artists who printed their art using watercolors on white paper. Carol printed hers on black paper to more accurately depict Paul Gauguin's oil painting.
