Katie Wild is an artist and professor who received a BFA and BA from the University of CT as well as an MFA from UMass Dartmouth. She teaches at CCRI, BHCC, and Mass College of Art & Design and has shown her artwork in various exhibitions throughout RI and MA.
"The Porpoise of Life" was created as part of a small series of hybrid animal portraits of the artist's first daughter amidst the haze and survival period of her postpartum. As many new parents can relate, Wild aimed to capture the polarized experience of losing oneself in the exhaustion and finding oneself in a new essential role.
