Description

Get ready for an all-day hike of Walden Woods with Dr. Edmund Schofield, Ph.D. The tour will focus on the boundaries of the "Walden Ecosystem"--Walden Pond, Walden Woods, Baker Farm, and outliers--from an ecological perspective.

Ed was instumental in defining the boundaries of Walden Woods.  See the first map of the Walden Woods ecosystem in the 1988 Concord Journal, listed in this auction under Collectibles.

Slides and documents (primarily maps) will be provided, as well as an afternoon lunch at a residence within historic Walden Woods.

At an additional charge (for expenses only), Ed recommends taking a train ride from Lincoln to the Concord Depot for a minimal fee, along the Boston/Fitchburg line that was built the year before Thoreau moved to Walden Pond in 1845. Ed also recommends chartering a small boat on the Concord/Sudbury River. The high bidder will discuss these arrangements with the donor.

Special Instructions

Offer good for up to 8 people and expires on December 31, 2007. Offer may be extended if agreed to by the donor.

To be arranged at the mutual convenience of the donor and the bidder.
