Description

You'll treasure this delicately colored screenprint that depicts autumn reflections along a canal. The screenprint measures 7 3/4" x 10" and was printed as one of an edition of 10 on Arches 88 archival paper in 1985.

Yolanda Frederikse's technique is direct photo emulsion. She sketches on site, then in her studio draws again to fit the screens used for printing. This master drawing is placed on a vacuum light box with an emulsion-coated screen on top. Color separations are achieved by using several screens. The painterly look results from burnishing the final print.

Along the canal in all seasons is a recurring theme in this artist's work. "Autumn Reflections" is one of her favorites in this series. To see more of her work, visit the Washington Printmakers Gallery website.
