Description

A beautiful black and white photograph of autumn corn stalks, hand printed in toned gelatin silver on heavy weight fiber paper, then dry mounted on museum board with mat. The photo is 11.5" x 11.5", and is mounted and matted to a 16" x 16" size.

Photographer Scott Edwards uses a time honored process of gelatin silver to create images of luminescence, clarity and feeling for texture. The three-dimensional silver granules present in the paper emulsion reflect light differently than the usual inked surface, giving the photographs a lively dimensionality.

He describes how the prairie of the Great Plains "transforms nature into texturally pleasing subject matter that beckons black and white film." View more of the work of Scott Edwards at the Main Street Art Works website.
