Description

Used in ceremonial dances among Native Alaskan tribes, these men's dance fans were handcrafted by Raymond Watson, Yup'ik, of Bethel.

Bleached turkey feathers and brown markings are used to mimic the features of snowy owl feathers, a federally protected bird species. Men's dance fans are always made of feathers.
