"Raggy" Quilt

Description
Just in time for the holidays! Artist Sue Beeman created this "raggy" flannel quilt in warm Christmas colors of red and green. "Raggy" quilts are wonderful two-dimensional quilts with a fringed effect that is produced in the way the quilt is assembled. Seams that join the blocks of material are secured and cut to produce a fluffy fringe after the material is washed for the first time. The photo shows one side with fringe, with one corner lifted up to reveal the the other side without fringe. It is made of 100% cotton flannel and measures 65" x 80."
Sue Beeman learned to sew at the age of five with help from her mother and grandmothers. More of her work is available at Northwoods Pioneer Gallery & Gifts in Two Harbors, MN.
