Description

Used in ceremonial dances among Native Alaskan tribes, these women's dance fans were made by Mary Carl, Yup'ik, of Toksook Bay. The women's fans typically are made mostly of either caribou or reindeer hair. These fans feature reindeer hair and black wolverine fur. The furs are held together with a traditional grass weave with dyed grass.
