Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Cinema's great programming, including the unparalleled Film Arts in Education program. This program is offered to junior and senior high school students and teachers from throughout Long Island. Since its inception in 1987, more than 58,000 students have attended this program!
Twice each year, the Film Arts in Education catalog is made available to teachers. They select from films that are offered and bring their classes to the Cinema. The films are carefully selected by Co-Directors, Vic Skonick and Charlotte Sky, to enhance students' education in the arts, language, history, literature and social studies. These special films, from all around the world, introduce youngsters to other cultures and help them to recognize the similarities between fellow human beings, as well as the differences. The proceeds from the auction will help the Cinema offer this program to schools that cannot otherwise afford transportation and admission fees.
