The Center assumes that grief and loss are a natural part of life and, in and of itself, should not be considered a mental health problem. However, if not addressed appropriately, this loss can result in serious complications such as depression, physical illness, failure in school, anti-social behavior, and involvement with the criminal justice system.

The Center's work is based on a deep respect for the individual's experience of grief, the healing potential of peer group support, and the value of adult mentoring. Children use age-appropriate activities, such as drawing, drama, role-play, sand tray, journal writing, music and art, to express their feelings and tell their stories. These activities within a peer-support group setting result in having children learn to handle their grief in a healthy manner. There is no cost to the families for our services.
