About Children's Hospital Foundation

Child Life is a specialized program to help children and their families manage the stresses associated with illness, injury or hospitalization. Each unit at Children's Hospital has a Child Life Specialist on board. Using play, socialization, therapeutic play and educational techniques, the Child Life Specialists help kids work through the anxiety and prepare for medical procedures. But also, almost as importantly, the Child Life Specialist ensures that the child is given time to stop being a patient, and to just be a kid.

Kent's Foundation for Child Life is named after Kent Morrison, son of Elissa and Rich Morrison. Kent's dad Rich attributes his son's successful recovery not only to the wonderful medical care Kent received, but also to the unique "child focused" care provided through the Child Life program at Children's.
