Description
Antonio Galloni stated in the Wine Advocate ?the 2004 Barolos combine the sweetness of 2000 with the classicism, perfume and freshness of 2001. Quality is outstanding from top to bottom." All three of these received high points but also carry the promise of patience with anticipated maturities beginning 2012 and extending 10 years after that. Pira's Barolo Vigna Rionda received 96 points and was aged in 100% new French oak. With "captivating aromatics that lead to a silky- textured palate of ripe red fruit this medium to full-bodied wine is a stunningly pure Rionda in the making." The Barolo Margheria received 93 points and represents "a massive wine, possessing plenty of fruit supported by imposing structural material, and showing superb energy, purity and focus." With 92 points, "Revello's Barolo Vigna Gattera is the only wine the estate ages in 15-hectoliter barrels rather than the smaller French oak barriques. This beautiful, silky- textured wine reveals outstanding length and terrific overall balance." If you don?t yet "do" Italian, this is a superb way to start!
