Description
Enjoy these Spanish gems that all received 90-94 point ratings. Try the 2004 Pago de Los Capellanes, Ribera del Duero which was #31 on Wine Spectators list of top 100 wines of 2007. This Tempranillo was called "seemless and seductive" with "blueberry, blackberry, cocoa and coffee flavors..its harmony disguising impressive concentration." The 2002 Pasanau Ceps Nous Priorat is a deep and full bodied wine with lavish fruit as WS described "a blast of smokey oak precedes tart cranberry and cherry flavors in this burley red." The 2005 Cyclo is 100% Tempranillo sourced from two vineyards, one with 85-year-old vines and the other with 150-year-old vines. Wine Advocate gave it 94 points and called it "sumptuous on the palate" as well as "powerful, ripe, and structured" and drinking well through 2030! The 2006 Elias Mora, Tinta de Toro was described by the Wine Advocate as "supple textured, forward, and richly flavored." Wine Enthusiast said this toro "is absolutely looking for some steak tips, cheeseburgers or spaghetti with meatballs" and called it "ripe, ready and lusty" - sounds like fun! These full bodied Spanish wines are very food friendly but also favor just drinking with good friends.
