The Wine Advocate gave this wine 92 points and noted, "Nothing that emerges from Matanzas Creek is less than excellent" and called this special limited production Chardonnay a super-rich "thick, viscous, super-concentrated wine with lavish quantities of oak, outrageous unctuousness and richness of fruit, and amazingly fine balance" and "an exceptional Chardonnay that delivers the goods." In the category of big California Chardonnays, this is truly a winner.
