Description
Consistently wowing the critics, Insignia is not to be missed. Wine Spectator gave it 94 points and Wine Advocate gave it 95. Both raved about it, and you will too. Spectator quotes, "Remarkably complex and concentrated. Very focused, rich with spice, cedar and mocha-laced currant, earth, sage and minerals. Its firm tannins support some age that will bring additional depth and complexity." Phelps flagship wine, the 2001 was an 18,000-case blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, and 3% Malbec. Parker described it as "rich, elegant, and nuanced, this dense ruby/purple wine offers a nose of creme de cassis, incense, licorice, chocolate, and spice box. It is full-bodied, opulently styled with plenty of tannin, but the structural aspects of the wine are well-concealed by its intensity and overall richness." This wine is ready to drink if you just can?t wait, or worth the hold through 2020.
