Baptist Memorial Hospital for Women, a nonprofit hospital, fulfills a special need in our community – serving the ones that serve us the most – mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends. Many of the more than 5,000 babies Baptist Women’s delivers every year require specialized care provided by the distinctive Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Since opening in May 2001 Women’s NICU has been caring for newborns within our region.

Baptist’s newborn intensive care unit is the only one in Memphis with certified Neonatal Individual Care and Assessment Program Nurses and the Ohmeda Medical Giraffe Omnibed. This unique bed is like two beds in one and provides heat sources for babies, which is vital to the survival of premature infants. Hundreds of premature babies have benefited from the NICU regardless of their parents' ability to pay.
