GO Tigers! Six home games highlight the 2009 Memphis Tiger football schedule, including three in the first four weeks of the season, as announced by Conference USA officials Wednesday afternoon.

The Tigers will open the season at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium against the Ole Miss Rebels on Sept. 5. The game will mark the sixth straight year that Memphis has opened with Ole Miss, and the 59th meeting between the two rivals. The Tigers will travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., the following weekend to face Middle Tennessee on the road for the first time since 1953. Memphis most recently faced the Blue Raiders in 2007 at the Liberty Bowl. The squad closes out September with consecutive home meetings versus UT-Martin and Marshall. Memphis will open C-USA action at home for the second straight season when welcoming the Thundering Herd to the Liberty Bowl on Sept. 26.

The U of M opens October with a road game versus UCF on October 3 and then hosts UTEP on October 10. UTEP, Houston and Tulsa are back on the schedule following Memphis' two-year league rotation with Tulane, SMU and Rice. The Tigers travel to Hattiesburg to face Southern Miss on Oct. 17, and will play a mid-week game versus East Carolina on Tuesday, Oct. 27. That game is slated to be televised by ESPN2.

The Tigers have a tough slate in November, playing three of the final four games of the season on the road. Memphis travels to Knoxville to face the Tennessee Vols on Nov. 7 before playing their final home meeting versus UAB on Nov. 14. The squad closes the regular season on the road at Houston and Tulsa. The last time Memphis had two road games to end the season was in 2004 when the Tigers defeated East Carolina and USF to finish with an 8-3 regular season record.

Additional televised games will be announced at a later date upon the selection of league match-ups by CBS College Sports and CSS.
