About Sci-Tech Camp:

Philosophy
The Science and Technology Camp, for boys and girls entering grades five through ten, provides rich and stimulating experiences designed to encourage curious minds to embark on a lifelong journey through the wonders of science.

Program
The Sci-Tech Camp offers basic activities for younger and first-year campers, a choice of more advanced activities for older and repeating campers, and special “Exploration Topics” open to both beginner and repeat campers.  For 15 year old campers who are interested in becoming C.I.T.s, Sci-Tech offers a Leadership Training Program.

Camper Groups
Campers are divided into two major sections by current grade, the Explorers (grades 4, 5, and 6) and the Technicians (grades 7, 8 and 9).  These are directed by Group Head Counselors who are teachers.  These are split into smaller groups headed by a counselor and an assistant counselor or C.I.T.

Facilities
The Science and Technology Camp uses the Clay Center, a 5-story multi-purpose facility that includes dining and lecture halls, science and computer labs, a .6 meter Classical Cassegrain telescope under a 24-foot dome, astronomy-themed courtyards, a roof deck with a wind turbine and photovoltaic solar arrays supplementing the building’s electrical power, and an AWS automated weather system.

Junior Camp
Children who are at least 3 by the previous December 1st and are entering nursery school or kindergarten are placed in the Junior Camp.  Children ages 3 and a half through 6 and a half are in this camp.  The program is specifically designed to meet the needs of the very young camper. The children enjoy crafts, art, shop, nature, music and a daily swimming lesson. In addition, there are regular intervals of supervised free play and a daily rest period.

Middle Camp and Upper Camp
Older campers are grouped primarily by grade level, from current grades K2 through 6. Groups spend most of the day together. Each group develops its own sense of unity, and most campers find that their closest camp friends come from within their group.
