Ricardo Ramos, Chef and Co-Owner
Ricardo Ramos, a native of the Philippines, grew up in the hospitality industry. Throughout his childhood, his family owned and operated the Ramos Hotel and four restaurants: The Golden Pot, Roadside Cafe, El Camino Real, and Annabelle's. Ramos left the Philippines, at a young age, to study in the state of Vera Cruz, Mexico. for almost three years. He then moved to Boston, in 1993, to attend Suffolk University and study International Business and Finance.
Ramos began his carrer in November of 1997, when he and co-owner Armida Amor opened Zocalo Cocina Mexicana located in Arlington, MA (formerly known as Ole Mexican Grill). This eatery is a full service storefront restaurant which has enjoyed eight years of success and a slew of Best Mexican Food awards throughout the years. The pair's next venture in December of 2001, was Andale, a takeout-only operation located in the rear lobby of a modern office building in Boston's Financial District. Their most recent endeavor is a second Zocalo Cocina Mexicana located in Brighton, MA.
