San Francisco Giants youn, 23-year-old pitcher, Tim Lincecum, served notice of promising career after posting superb rookie campaign in 2007...not only was he cream of NL rookie hurlers, but was among top pitchers in whole circuit... after his ML debut May 6, 2007, was tied for 5th in NL for strikeouts (150), despite missing final 2 weeks of campaign...also ranked 2nd in SO per 9 innings (9.23) behind only SD's Jake Peavy (9.49)...his .226 avg. against was 4th-lowest in NL following May 6...joined John Montefusco (215 in 1975), Matt Cain (179 in 2006) and John D'Acquisto (167 in 1974) as only SF hurlers to lead NL rookies in strikeouts...Giants' 1st round selection (10th overall) in 2006 First-Year Player Draft became 4th member of that draft class to matriculate to majors.
